The City of Greater Geelong has over 120 turf sporting grounds used by a variety of groups for a number of different sports. The current drought and water restrictions are having a significant impact on the surface of these grounds. To enhance the communication to clubs and the community regarding the status of grounds, the City has developed a table (see below) that lists the status and suitability for use of each ground. The City is undertaking weekly inspections to ensure the grounds are suitable for play and these are documented in the table. In addition to these inspections, clubs should continue their own inspection regime to satisfy themselves that grounds are suitable for play.
