The LEGENDS PLAZA, recognises sporting legends from the region and provides the opportunity for the community to acknowledge the deeds of elite sports persons and administrators from the Geelong area. The achievements of elite sports persons and administrators provide important incentives and role models for other people in the community striving to excel in sport. This in turn will contribute to community pride.

The Legends were selected from nominated candidates using stringent criteria by the Legends Advisory Committee established by the City of Greater Geelong.

The LEGENDS PLAZA project is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
