The vision for Sports House is to create a nationally recognised centre that supports the development of the sport and recreation sector at all levels within the region to achieve maximum impact/effect from the available resources.

Sports House will be the initial point of contact for sport and recreation clubs & groups seeking assistance for their organisation. It will be promoted as a "one-stop-shop" for information, support and referral for sport in the following areas: Bellarine Peninsula, Colac Otway Shire, Surfcoast Shire, Golden Plains Shire and the City of Greater Geelong.

Other functions of Sports House include:

  • Centre for providers of sports and recreation services in the region: City of Greater Geelong's - Skilled Stadium Management Group , Leisure Networks, Active After-school Communities program and the Barwon Sports Academy;
  • Access to relevant statistics, data, guidelines, resources and sample submissions;
  • Provider of support services for grass roots to elite organisations/athletes;
  • Annual program of seminars, forums, training and development opportunities;
  • Provide a regional point of connection for state and national bodies wanting to work in the Barwon Region;
  • 'State of the Art' meeting and conference centre facilities including disabled access & parking;
  • Office and administrative accommodation possibilities for the sport and recreation sector in the region;
  • Provision of an incubator setting that will enable emerging sports and their administrators to learn from established recreation professionals.

As Sports House evolves over the coming years and its role and functions are further refined it will become a valuable asset to the Barwon Region sporting community.
