  • Ride on the left side of the path
  • Pass to the right of pedestrians
  • Sound your bell, or simply call out 'passing on your right' as you approach pedestrians
  • Ride at a speed that allows you to stop quickly
  • Move off the path if you stop

Mountain Bike Code

  • Ride in control at all times
  • Give way to pedestrians and horses and slow down as you pass
  • Avoid skidding or cutting corners
  • Avoid wet or muddy areas
  • Obey the signs and stay on the permitted tracks
  • Phone the Parks Victoria Hotline (131 963) to find out about any closures or limitations before you ride
  • Mountain bike riding is prohibited in the Brisbane Ranges National Park (except for the major vehicle roads through the Park)
  • Cycling is permitted in the You Yangs
