- Ride on the left side of the path
- Pass to the right of pedestrians
- Sound your bell, or simply call out 'passing on your right' as you approach pedestrians
- Ride at a speed that allows you to stop quickly
- Move off the path if you stop

- Ride in control at all times
- Give way to pedestrians and horses and slow down as you pass
- Avoid skidding or cutting corners
- Avoid wet or muddy areas
- Obey the signs and stay on the permitted tracks
- Phone the Parks Victoria Hotline (131 963) to find out about any closures or limitations before you ride
- Mountain bike riding is prohibited in the Brisbane Ranges National Park (except for the major vehicle roads through the Park)
- Cycling is permitted in the You Yangs
