Cigarette butts are the biggest cause of litter pollution in our environment with seven billion butts littered nationally every year.
The City of Greater Geelong has joined a national campaign to change littering behaviour in Butt Free Week (March 17-21).
The City has successfully applied for funding from the Butt Littering Trust to employ four teams of educators who will be roving the streets of Central Geelong during the week of March 17-21. The educators will target butt littering ?hot spots' and talk to smokers to encourage them to dispose of their butts responsibly.
