What is the Bellarine Peninsula Strategic Plan?

The Bellarine Peninsula Strategic Plan is designed to have a life of ten years from 2006 to 2016.

The Plan:

  • brings together into one document all existing City of Greater Geelong (CoGG) policies that affect how we use and allocate land on the Bellarine Peninsula
  • creates a single cohesive vision for a healthy and sustainable community on the Bellarine Peninsula, and a unique vision for each of the townships
  • creates a plan to meet the social service needs of the Bellarine Peninsula as a whole and the distinct community support needed in each of the townships
  • analyses possible population and housing trends for the next ten years and anticipate the impact that population growth and aging will have on social services
  • considers economic, land and community capacity and how best to support a healthy, sustainable and cohesive Bellarine Peninsula community
  • considers how the City of Greater Geelong may implement this vision in partnership with other organisations and the community
  • considers how we fund this vision. This includes consideration of a comprehensive and transparent system of contributions from potential developers to assist in the provision of an identified community need
