Council operates a free Heritage Advisory Service. The Heritage Advisor may be able to provide advice on conservation works and proposed changes to properties subject to a Heritage Overlay. This is particulalry useful for owners seeking free practical advice relating to restoration or additions to heritage buildings, new buildings in heritage areas or new front fences, for example.

A qualified conservation consultant/practitioner is employed to assist owners of heritage properties with responsible conservation; as noted, this is a free service.

By consulting the Advisor, in conjunction with a planner early on E.g prior to lodging a planning permit, may result is a smoother and faster negotiation of the planning and building requirements.
