May 2007

Work is currently progressing on all three phases of the project, as outlined below.

Conservation Analysis
The Draft Conservation Analysis report was submitted to Council at the end of April. Council reviewed the draft and provided feedback and comments to the consultants, who are revising the report accordingly. The report will be made available on the project web page for public review and comment in early June.

Master Plan

The consultant team has completed the consultation phase of the project and on the basis of the information received from numerous sources - including Council, stakeholders and the broader community - the process of preparing the Draft Master Plan has commenced.

The consultation phase was considered to be very successful, with the consultants gathering information on the park and the gardens from a range of different user groups and interested parties, including over 200 responses to the User Survey, which was available both on-line and in Council's Customer Service Centres.

The consultants will deliver the first draft of the Master Plan to the Project Control Group in mid June. Subject to review by this group, the Master Plan will be revised and made available for public comment as soon as possible.

Management Plan

Work is continuing on the development of management plans for traffic, wildlife, trees and various other aspects of the park and gardens.
