Site 2 - Collendina
Collendina comprises of several large and moderate sized marshes and small lakes that are affected by rainfall. Considerable treatment is carried out, at this area, in the early parts of the season when the rainfall is higher and temperatures are moderate, which is ideal for mosquito breeding. Usually, in the summer months, this site dries out and subsequently does not require ongoing treatment. However, in the event of significant rainfall events during this drier period, monitoring and treatments of this area would take place soon after, due to the likeliness of mosquitoes breeding in the new bodies of water.

 | This photo is of the easement near Thacker Street. This site, along with others around Ocean Grove can impact on the Collendina area. The low lying water is an ideal environment for mosquito eggs to hatch. Therefore after rainfall events, areas like this will be monitored by the ground crew for signs of larvae. |
