Food Labelling

New labelling requirements for packaged food were introduced for all food packaged after 20 December 2002. The major changes relate to mandatory warning, advisory statements, declarations and the requirement for a nutritional panel.

A letter and brochure briefly detailing the changes were mailed out to all relevant proprietors. If you did not receive this information and would like a copy, or require some assistance in interpreting the requirements, please contact the Environment Health Office.

For additional information about labelling go to the Food Standards Code  website link. The website also provides the complete Food Standards Code and also provides access to a Nutritional Panel Calculator which you can use for your individual products.
