In general, Camping Permits are issued to persons, who have obtained or submitted an application for a building permit in areas zoned as 'Low Density Rural', 'Rural Living' or 'Rural'.
Permits will not be approved where areas are zoned 'Residential'. After the initial application a council officer will conduct an on-site inspection to assess the suitability of the land for the permit. A camping permit is approved subject to any complaints received by council in relation to any temporary occupation of the land.
Applications can be granted for a period of three and six months in which time their dwelling should be completed to the point of occupancy. Application forms can be obtained at City Hall 30 Gheringhap St Geelong or by calling Health Services on (03) 5227 0411.
