VINES ROAD REDEVELOPMENT

The Vines Road site is to be developed into a whole of community area. This will include the construction of a new community building where the Vines Road Community Centre and Vines Road Senior Citizens activities will continue to operate. The site will also include the amalgamated campuses of Western Heights College.

This project is a partnership between the City of Greater Geelong (CoGG), Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and Western Heights College. Components of the school site will also be available for community use.

What has happened so far

Two community information nights were held in late 2006, where the draft plans of the site were presented to approximately 240 residents and user groups. At these information nights the community provided feedback on the overall design and the new community centre plan.

Council endorsed the Vines Road redevelopment project at the Council Meeting on 12 December 2006, conditional on the recommendations from the Traffic Study being incorporated into the site design to Council Officers' satisfaction.
