Values Statement

In keeping with the City of Greater customer services commitments of responsiveness, access, knowledge & attitude, fair treatment and feedback opportunities for organisations, groups, community and individuals to network is fundamental to realising community identified aspirations.

Key Objectives

  • Provide a forum for sharing of the community voice to inform organisations in responding to community aspirations and needs
  • Provide a range opportunities for professionals to share information, skills and resources
  • Build on the 'working links' between services, government and community to increase services, prospects and overall prosperity for communities affected by social and economic disadvantage.

Key Strategies

  • Maintain and develop the CAOS Network as a focus forum for activities and actions in Norlane and Corio.
  • Maintain and develop communication strategies across the network for EG: membership email and mailing lists, newsletters and minutes.
  • Support the Professional Development role of CAOS through identifying emerging training needs of the membership and appropriate means of address.

Role of City of Greater Geelong Community Development Worker/s

Practical

  • Provide a central contact for the membership
  • Coordinate local venues to host the meetings and activities
  • Ensure host organisations receive accurate and appropriate information and support
  • Ensure catering is provided
  • Maintain the mailing lists
  • Regularly disseminate information via the electronic CAOS email tree
  • Provide a central contact point for the network to distribute information (formerly known as Dale Mail)

Strategic

  • Together with the CAOS 'future Directions Working Group' identify areas of network development
  • Enable member organisations and groups to obtain practical and partnership support for strategic actions that further increase the economic and social well being of people living in Norlane and Corio
  • Support the network as a vehicle for social change through identifying local issues, aspirations and methods for collective lobbying
