The Geelong Heritage Centre collections embrace the history of Geelong since 1838 and comprise the following general categories:

• Genealogy
  Postal directories, rate books, church and cemetery registers, indexes to births, deaths and marriages (all states), immigration records and biographical registers.
• Reference works
  Geelong and district historical Publications and general Victorian historical works.
• Newspapers
  Geelong Advertiser 1840 to present, Geelong News 1965-1993, Colac Herald 1895-1952.
• Maps and plans
  Subdivision plans, sale notices, parish maps, council engineering plans, blueprints, etc.
• Photographs 
  Thousands of images depicting the life and times of Geelong from 1840's to the present.
• Archival records
  Records of Geelong and district local government, businesses, manufacturers, architects, clubs, societies, churches, friendly societies and private individuals.

About the Geelong Heritage Centre
The Geelong Heritage Centre stores the collective memories of the Barwon Region. The Centre provides information in the form of public and private records, newspapers, maps, plans and photographs as well as extensive catalogues and indexes.

Search the Collections
NEW!  You can now access three of our catalogues online, including our popular Reference Library Catalogue.  We will be adding indexes, transcriptions and images, so keep checking back for updates.  Until then, have a look at the Meredith Dog Register 1864 - 1866, fully transcribed.

Publications
Our new list includes thumbnail images of book covers and a short summary about each book.  We stock many works by local historians and historical groups, as well as specialty items for family historians and lovers of early Geelong photography.
