Your annual pet registration fee can be reduced if your dog is eligible to be registered as a working animal. You must produce supporting evidence to support your claim.

Working dogs come in all shapes and sizes and can be used for a variety of situations:

Farm Dog - must be used exclusively for droving or drafting livestock and must be housed on a property that is rated general farming. An exception may be for a person employed by a farmer and who derives a substantial part of their income using their dog

Guard Dog - a dog used by its owner to achieve a substantial part of their income. This may include people like a security patrol person with a dog, but doesn't cover a dog being used to guard premises (eg car yards) commercial animal breeder - someone who derives a substantial part of their income from the breeding and selling of animals. They should have appropriate town planning approval.
