Geelong Transport Strategy - Dec 2003
The Geelong Transport Strategy provides strategic directions for the development and management of Geelong's transportation system. It specifically provides direction and actions for: Managing Travel Demand, Public Transport, Freight, Roads, Land Use, Bicycles, Pedestrians, Traffic Management in Neighbourhoods and Urban Activity Centres and Parking. Council adopted the Geelong Transport Strategy on 27th August 2002.

Lara Structure Plan - 2007 and 2009
The Lara Structure Plan 2007 has been partially reviewed and a new Structure Plan was adopted on the 9 June 2009. The Structure Plan identifies growth directions for the township for the next 10 years.

Council will now seek authorisation from the Minister for Planning to prepare an Amendment to have the Structure Plan included in the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme. The Amendment process will include public exhibition and an opportunity for submissions.

Lara Town Centre Urban Design Framework (UDF)

Mount Duneed Armstrong Creek Urban Development Study - August 1994
The ''Mount Duneed Armstrong Creek Urban Development Study - August 1994'' was prepared to provide strategic direction for future urban growth in the area. It provides an outline of the areas physical contraints and development potential, while demonstrating its feasibility as a growth area for the Geelong region. This Study was adopted by Council on 20 March 1995.
 
Council is now preparing the Armstrong Creek Urban Growth Plan 2005 (UGP). The UGP will build on and have regard to the 1994 document, and will investigate capacity, direct the form of development and provide an implementation plan.

MSS Review
The Municipal Strategic Statement and Local Planning Policies are statutory documents which form part of the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme. Ocean Grove Structure Plan
The Ocean Grove Structure Plan 1993 establishes a strategic framework to guide the growth and development of Ocean Grove over a ten to fifteen year period. Point Lonsdale Structure Plan
This Structure Plan provides a strategic planning framework for the entire Point Lonsdale township and was developed as a joint project between the Borough of Queenscliffe and the City of Greater Geelong. The document was adopted by the City of Greater Geelong Council on the 28 April 2009 and can be viewed on the link below. A planning scheme amendment is proposed to implement the Structure Plan.

Rural Land Use Strategy 
The Strategy has been prepared by Parsons Brinckerhoff on behalf of the City of Greater Geelong and represents a major review of the 1997 Rural Land Use Strategy. The Strategy has been developed following a review of existing state and local planning policies including the Bellarine Peninsula Strategic Plan, Environment Management Strategy and Coastal Spaces recommendations, data collection and analysis and targeted consultation with key stakeholders.

The Strategy identifies key directions in relation to the application of the State Government's new Rural Zones and includes planning policies for animal keeping and training, dwellings and subdivisions, and tourism development in rural areas. The reviewed Strategy was adopted on the 8 May, 2007.

On the 11 September 2007 Council adopted an addendum to the Rural land Use Strategy including further detail on the Rural Conservation Zone as it is to be applied on the Bellarine peninsula. A copy of the addendum can be viewed on the 'Rural Conservation Zone Project' link below.

Rural Residential Strategy - 1994
In October 1994 Council adopted a rural residential strategy to assist in the consideration of requests from land owners to enable their land to be rezoned for Rural Residential development. The strategy enables rural residential subdivision to occur at a range of locations throughout the municipality, whilst protecting farming activities from urban encroachment and rural and environmentally significant areas.

St Leonards Structure Plan - September 2006
Following a public consultation period, the St Leonards Structure Plan was adopted by Council on 26 September 2006. The plan aims to provide a strategic direction for the future development of the town over the next ten to fifteen years.

St Leonards Urban Design Framework (UDF)
The St Leonards Urban Design Framework (UDF) has been prepared as an ongoing guide for improvements within St Leonards. The UDF contains a number of recommendations for improvements to public spaces in the township, including the preparation of a master plan for St Leonards Lake Reserve; improvements to town entrances; enhanced pedestrian and cycle links; the implementation of a concept plan for the Foreshore and Pier area and additional planting of indigenous flora in reserves and parklands.

West Fyans Strategic Land Use Plan
The draft West Fyans Strategic Land Use Plan was prepared by consultants for the City of Greater Geelong in 2002 in response to a number of pressures. The area's strategic location is recognised with excellent access to the central business area and road network, and its inner city living and river frontage opportunities created by its location on the Barwon River.
