Risk Assessment is one area of your event planning and preparation that is critical in not only gaining approval for your event to proceed, but also in ensuring your event occurs safely, without incident.
There is now a significant focus on risk management and occupational health and safety at all event sites. For this reason, as the event organiser, you must pay special attention to these areas of responsibility and complete a Risk Assessment as part of your Event Plan before your event can proceed.
Development of Risk Assessments aim to ensure that all events staged in the region are safe for staff, contractors, volunteers and the public.
No matter what the nature or size of your event, you must complete a Risk Assessment at least ONE MONTH prior to your event, or permission to proceed may be denied.
The City has developed a Risk Assessment Form or template as a guide to make this process easier. Event organisers may choose to use a template of their own design, which is acceptable, as long as the data captured is equivalent to that in the City's Risk Assessment Form (template).
