School Holiday Program

The School Holiday Program is a fun, inclusive, supportive and flexible program for primary aged children.

A range of activities and experiences are on offer everyday that build upon your child’s skills, knowledge and understanding, as well as their curiosity and imagination.

Professional and qualified staff are on hand to help children build their cooperation skills, respect and independence, all the while ensuring they enjoy their holidays in a safe, fun and welcoming environment. Children attending specialist schools can also access the program; simply call the School Holiday Program Administration to discuss the suitability of the program for your child’s additional needs.

Program Activities

The program is flexible catering to the needs and interests of the children attending therefore a variety of activities are on offer everyday.

Some activities include:
  • Art and craft
  • Sports
  • Cooking
  • Dramatic play
  • Science experiments
  • Free time for children to chose their own activities
We have a lot of community involvement, along with a variety of excursion opportunities.

Activities are planned based on discussions with children and families. Staff use reflections and evaluations to assist with future planning.  Building upon what children already know and initionally teaching them skills they don't is key to program planning.  Programming is specifically based around the learning outcomes, practices and principles outlined in the National Quality Framework.

Staff to Child Ratios

All programs abide by children's services regulations with a ratio of 1 staff : 15 children with always a minimum of 2 staff present.

There is one certified supervisor on duty at all times.

Extra staff are also rostered to ensure the inclusion of children with additional needs. We do not offer 1:1 support.

On excursions to maintain our supervision standards we promote a ratio of 1 staff: 8 children and 1 staff: 5 children when participating in water activities.

During routine excursions we promote a 1 staff : 10 children ratio.

National Quality Framework

The program is fully licenced and from January 2012 will transition into the new National Quality Framework.

Our program planning is developed around the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care.

School age children experience learning in a wide range of settings. Family, school and the community (including school age care setting / OSHC) provide diverse opportunities for children to explore relationships and ideas, and build competence and skills.

The diversity in family and community life means that school age children experience belonging, being and becoming in many different ways. They bring their diverse experiences, perspectives, expectations, knowledge and skills to their learning.

View more about the National Quality Framework and the National Quality Agenda.
