Re-elected to Council in November 2004 after serving as a regional Councillor between 1998 and 2001, Councillor Brazier represents the Corio Ward, which covers parts of Norlane and Corio. Cr Brazier is a community development worker who is actively involved in the community building projects and neighbourhood renewal projects in Norlane and Corio. Cr Brazier served as Deputy Mayor for 2005 - 2006. |  |
Cr Brazier was born in U.S.A and is the mother of two sons, Tony and Delvon who reside in USA. She has been a Geelong resident since 1993. She lived in Corio for five years before moving to Leopold. She has worked part-time as Coordinator of Norlane Neighbourhood House since 1993 and is the Coordinator of the Corio Norlane Neighbourhood Renewal Project.
Her range of activities and experiences in the northern suburbs is extensive. Having lived and worked in the area since 1993, Cr Brazier has a first hand understanding of issues affecting her Ward and the aspirations of the Norlane/Corio communities.
She holds positions on numerous groups and committees in the area. Her passions are youth, senior citizens, community development and better services for disadvantaged communities. She holds several tertiary qualifications in her chosen professional fields, and has an extensive health and community services background.
Cr Brazier holds the Council portfolio for Community Development and the porfolio for Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, and represents the City of Greater Geelong on many local and regional committees, including:
- Community Arts and Festivals Assessment Committee
- Windsor Park Steering Committee
- DW Hope Centre Feasibility Working Group
- Geelong Regional Library Corporation
During her term on Council, Cr Brazier will endeavour to address many issues including youth services, local sport and recreational facilities maintenance and upgrading, and improving the quality of basic services such as local roads and footpaths.
